Albert Moll (1862–1939) was a German physician and psychiatrist in Berlin, one of the founders of modern sexology. He wrote influential studies of hypnotism, of homosexuality and of the sexual impulse, and his Sexual Life of the Child, published in 1909, was an early attempt to describe the development of sexuality in childhood on the basis of medical observation. Moll also wrote on medical ethics and was a sharp critic of occultism and of Sigmund Freud's psychoanalysis. As a Jew he was barred from practicing medicine under the Nazi regime, and he died in Berlin in 1939.
