This third volume contains the second part of his Treatise on Comparative Embryology, devoted to the chordates: lancelets, tunicates, fishes, amphibians, birds, reptiles and mammals, followed by general conclusions on the ancestral form of the group and a long section on the development of organs, from the skin and nervous system to the skull.
