William Hunt

William Hunt (1842–1931) was an English historian and clergyman. After serving as a parish priest in Somerset, he devoted himself to historical writing, contributing many articles to the Dictionary of National Biography and writing on the history of the English Church and of the city of Bristol. With Reginald Lane Poole he edited the twelve-volume Political History of England, for which he wrote the volume on the reign of George III to 1801. He was president of the Royal Historical Society, and his work was valued for its accuracy and balance.
