Wilfred Mark Webb was an English naturalist, lecturer and writer of the early twentieth century, a fellow of the Linnean Society and curator of the museum at Eton College. He was closely involved with the Selborne Society, which promoted the study and protection of wildlife in memory of Gilbert White, and wrote on natural history. In The Heritage of Dress, published in 1907, he applied a naturalist's eye to clothing, tracing buttons, collars, hats and uniforms back to the vanished forms from which they descend.
