W. P. Strickland

William Peter Strickland was an American Methodist minister, editor and author of the mid-nineteenth century. He wrote and edited works on religious and regional history, including a history of the American Bible Society, histories of Methodist missions, and the autobiography of the famous frontier preacher Peter Cartwright, which he edited. His Old Mackinaw, published in 1860, recounted the history and scenery of Mackinac Island and the straits of the Great Lakes.
