W. J. Baltzell

W. J. Baltzell was an American musician, editor and teacher of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. He worked as an editor of music periodicals and wrote and compiled books for students and music clubs. His Complete History of Music, prepared with contributions from several specialists, presents the subject as a course of lessons from ancient times to the end of the nineteenth century, and he also edited a dictionary of musicians. His work reflects the spread of organized music study in American schools and clubs.
