Una L. Silberrad

Una Lucy Silberrad (1872–1955) was an English novelist born in Buckhurst Hill, Essex, who published some forty books between 1899 and the 1940s. The Good Comrade, Desire, Keren of Lowbole and Success are among the best known; several were serialized in American magazines and reprinted on both sides of the Atlantic. Her heroines are often capable women making their way in trade, farming or business, and she wrote with unusual knowledge about work, money and the mechanics of enterprise. She was also a serious gardener who published, with Sophie Lyall, a book on Dutch bulbs and gardens, and she lived most of her life in Essex.
