Thomas A. Janvier

Thomas Allibone Janvier (1849–1913) was an American writer and journalist. Born in Philadelphia, he worked for newspapers there before living for several years in Mexico, which inspired The Mexican Guide and the adventure novel The Aztec Treasure-House (1890). He later spent long periods in Provence, translated the novels of the Provençal writer Félix Gras, including The Reds of the Midi, and wrote In Old New York, a portrait of the city's past. His wife, Catharine Ann Janvier, was a painter and translator who often traveled and worked with him.
