Stuart J. Reid

Stuart Johnson Reid was an English journalist and biographer of the Victorian and Edwardian years. He worked as an editor in London and wrote biographies of public figures, among them The Life and Times of Sydney Smith and a life of the Earl of Durham. He was the general editor of The Queen's Prime Ministers, a series of political biographies of Victoria's premiers, and wrote the volume on Lord John Russell himself (1895). His books are sympathetic in tone, well informed about Whig and Liberal politics and drawn in part from family papers.
