Samuel Adams Drake

Samuel Adams Drake (1833–1905) was an American journalist and historian of New England. The son of the Boston antiquarian Samuel Gardner Drake, he worked as a newspaper correspondent in Kansas and served in the Union army during the Civil War, then returned to Massachusetts to write. His many books on the history, landmarks and legends of New England, among them Old Landmarks and Historic Personages of Boston, Historic Fields and Mansions of Middlesex, Nooks and Corners of the New England Coast and A Book of New England Legends and Folk Lore, made him a popular guide to the region's past.
