Perley Poore Sheehan (1875–1943) was an American writer born in Cincinnati who worked as a newspaperman in New York and Paris before turning to fiction for the pulp magazines, where he published hundreds of adventure, mystery and fantasy stories over four decades. His novel The Whispering Chorus was filmed by Cecil B. DeMille in 1918, and he spent several years in Hollywood as a screenwriter, with credits on The Hunchback of Notre Dame of 1923. Three Sevens is a prison-break and treasure story typical of his crisp, fast-moving manner; his Kwa of the Jungle tales, written in the 1930s under a pseudonym, are remembered by collectors of early fantasy.
