P. C. Remondino

P. C. Remondino (1846–1926) was an Italian-born American physician who practiced in San Diego, California, for most of his career. Born Peter Charles Remondino in Turin, he came to the United States as a child, served as a surgeon in the Civil War and settled in San Diego in 1873, where he was president of the county and state medical societies, and a tireless promoter of the Southern California climate. His books include The Mediterranean Shores of America, on the region's suitability for invalids, History of Circumcision from the Earliest Times to the Present, which argued for the operation as a routine medical measure.
