Nathan Gallizier (1866–1927) was a German-born American novelist. Born in Stuttgart, he studied music and literature in Germany before emigrating to the United States, where he settled in Boston and worked as a musician and teacher while writing. His novels are all romances of medieval and Renaissance Italy, written in an ornate, atmospheric style: Castel del Monte, set in the time of the last Hohenstaufens; The Sorceress of Rome, about the emperor Otto III; The Court of Lucifer, about the Borgias; and Under the Witches' Moon, a tale of tenth-century Rome. They were popular in their day and are now read as period pieces of American historical fiction.
