Mary Macleod

Mary Macleod was a British writer of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries who retold classic English literature for young readers. Her books include Stories from the Faerie Queene, with an introduction by the scholar John W. Hales, The Book of King Arthur and His Noble Knights, drawn from Malory, and The Shakespeare Story-Book, which tells the plots of the plays in prose. They were reprinted many times on both sides of the Atlantic as introductions to the originals.
