Lord Charles Beresford (1846–1919) was a British admiral and politician, the second son of the Marquess of Waterford. He entered the Royal Navy in 1859, made his name commanding the gunboat Condor under fire at Alexandria in 1882 and served with the Nile expedition of 1884 and 1885, and he sat in the House of Commons as a Conservative in four separate periods, often while still on the active list. As commander of the Mediterranean and then the Channel Fleet he carried on a bitter public feud with the First Sea Lord, Sir John Fisher, over naval reform that divided the service.
