John P. Jones

John P. Jones was a Welsh-born American Congregationalist missionary who spent many years in South India in the service of the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions, working in the Madura mission. Drawing on long experience of Hindu society, he lectured at American theological seminaries and wrote India's Problem, Krishna or Christ, published in 1903, and India, Its Life and Thought, published in 1908. His books describe Indian religion, caste and social life for Western readers, from a firmly Christian and missionary point of view.
