John Jay Chichester

John Jay Chichester was an American writer of mystery fiction who published in Street & Smith's Detective Story Magazine during the 1920s and saw several of his serials issued as books by the firm's Chelsea House imprint, among them The Porcelain Mask, Rogues of Fortune and the Sandy Lane stories about a gentleman thief. His plots favor wealthy households, closed circles of suspects and heroines with secrets, in the manner of the American domestic mystery between the wars. Like many writers for the pulps he left little trace outside his work, and his books survive chiefly in the cheap editions through which they first reached readers.
