John H. Dixon

John H. Dixon was a Scottish antiquary and writer, a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, who lived in the Highland parish of Gairloch in Wester Ross. His Gairloch in North-West Ross-Shire, published in 1886 with chapters by specialist contributors, combined the history, traditions and Gaelic lore of the district with its natural history and a guide for travelers, and remains a valued local history. He also wrote a similar book on Pitlochry and its surroundings.
