John G. Edgar

John George Edgar (1834–1864) was a Scottish writer of history and biography for boys. He settled in London to write, and in a short career produced a series of popular books, among them Boyhood of Great Men, Footprints of Famous Men, The Boy Crusaders, Cavaliers and Roundheads and Sea-Kings and Naval Heroes, which presented the past through stirring narratives of courage and adventure. He died in London at the age of twenty-nine.
