John Cunningham

John Cunningham was a Scottish minister and theologian in the tradition of the Covenanters, the Presbyterians who bound Scotland to God by solemn covenants in the seventeenth century. His treatise The Ordinance of Covenanting, published in Glasgow in the 1840s and dedicated to Andrew Symington, professor of divinity in the Reformed Presbyterian Church, argues at length from Scripture that public and personal covenanting remains a permanent duty of churches and nations. Little else about his life is recorded in standard reference works.
