J. Stephen Jeans

J. Stephen Jeans was a British writer and statistician of the late nineteenth century who specialized in industry, trade and transport. He was long associated with the British iron and steel trade and wrote books such as England's Supremacy, which compared the industrial strength of nations, and Railway Problems, on the economics of the railways. His Waterways and Water Transport in Different Countries, published in 1890, contributed to the debate over reviving Britain's canals and surveyed great ship canals around the world.
