John Castell Hopkins (1864–1923) was a Canadian author and journalist. Born in Iowa and raised in Ontario, he worked as a bank clerk and journalist in Toronto before devoting himself to writing on the British Empire and Canadian affairs. He produced lives of Queen Victoria, Gladstone and Edward VII, edited the multi-volume Canada: An Encyclopaedia of the Country, and from 1901 until his death compiled The Canadian Annual Review of Public Affairs, a yearly record of the Dominion's politics. A convinced imperialist, he founded the Empire Club of Canada in Toronto in 1903.
