Henry Herbert Knibbs

Henry Herbert Knibbs (1874–1945) was an American poet and novelist of the West. Born in Ontario and raised partly in Buffalo, New York, he worked for a railroad and in business before settling in California and turning to writing. He became one of the best-known cowboy poets, with collections such as Songs of the Outlands, Riders of the Stars and Songs of the Trail, and he wrote Western novels and many stories for magazines, including Overland Red. His verse and prose catch the speech, humor and loneliness of range life.
