H. E. Marshall

H. E. Marshall (1867–1941) was a Scottish writer of history for children. Henrietta Elizabeth Marshall grew up in Scotland and turned to writing for young readers. Her Our Island Story, published in 1905, told the history of Britain as a sequence of vivid stories and became one of the most popular children's history books in English. She followed it with Scotland's Story, Our Empire Story, English Literature for Boys and Girls and This Country of Ours, a history of the United States written in the same manner for American readers.
