George Iles

George Iles was a Canadian-American writer on science and invention who lived for many years in Montreal before settling in New York. He wrote for general readers about the practical applications of science in Flame, Electricity and the Camera (1900) and Inventors at Work (1906), which explains the principles inventors use and the role of observation and experiment in discovery. He also edited popular anthologies and was active in the library movement, promoting annotated lists of recommended books to guide readers toward reliable works on every subject.
