George Frederick Wright (1838–1921) was an American geologist and Congregationalist theologian. A graduate of Oberlin College, he served as a pastor in Vermont and Massachusetts, where he took up the study of glacial deposits, then returned to Oberlin to teach and later held a chair devoted to the harmony of science and revelation. He mapped the southern limit of the ice sheet across several states and wrote The Ice Age in North America and Man and the Glacial Period. With Asa Gray he argued that Darwinism could be reconciled with Christian belief, though in later years his views grew more conservative.
