Evelyn Philip Shirley

Evelyn Philip Shirley (1812–1882) was an English antiquary and Conservative politician. Heir to Ettington Park in Warwickshire and to estates in County Monaghan, Ireland, he was educated at Oxford and sat in Parliament first for Monaghan and then for South Warwickshire. His antiquarian work focused on families, land and heraldry: The Noble and Gentle Men of England, a register of ancient landed families still holding their estates, Stemmata Shirleiana, a history of his own family, a history of County Monaghan, and Some Account of English Deer Parks. He rebuilt Ettington Park in the Gothic style.
