Esther Singleton

Esther Singleton (1865–1930) was an American writer, editor and compiler born in Baltimore, who wrote widely on music, decorative arts and travel. Her books include The Furniture of Our Forefathers, Dutch New York, Social New York under the Georges, and a series of descriptive anthologies of great cities and famous paintings as seen and described by travelers. She also wrote A Guide to the Opera and The Orchestra and Its Instruments (1917), published by the Symphony Society of New York. Her books aimed to make cultural history accessible to general readers.
