Ephraim Douglass Adams (1865–1930) was an American historian who taught for many years at Stanford University, specializing in British and American diplomatic history. He wrote on British interests in Texas and on the influence of Grenville on Pitt's foreign policy, and his two-volume Great Britain and the American Civil War (1925), based on British newspapers, parliamentary papers and diplomatic correspondence, became a standard study of how Britain responded to the conflict. During and after the First World War he worked closely with Herbert Hoover in building the collection of war documents at Stanford that became the Hoover War Library, and served as its first director.
