Elizabeth Robins Pennell (1855–1936) was an American writer, critic and journalist. Born in Philadelphia, she married the illustrator Joseph Pennell, and from 1884 the couple lived for more than thirty years in London, where they were part of an artistic circle that included Whistler, whose authorized biography they wrote together. She published travel books recording their journeys by bicycle across Europe, art criticism, a biography of her uncle Charles Godfrey Leland, and an early life of Mary Wollstonecraft. Her collection of cookery books and her essays on food, gathered in The Delights of Delicate Eating, have found new admirers.
