Eglanton Thorne

Eglanton Thorne was the pen name of Emily Charlton, an English writer of evangelical fiction for young people in the last decades of the nineteenth century. Most of her books were published by the Religious Tract Society and similar houses, and they are stories of conversion and conduct set among the London poor and the middle classes, among them The Two Crowns, The Old Worcester Jug and Phil's Mother. Little is recorded of her life beyond her books, which were popular as Sunday-school rewards and were still being reprinted in the early twentieth century.
