Cosmo Hamilton (1870–1942) was an English playwright and novelist, born Henry Charles Hamilton Gibbs, the brother of the war correspondent Philip Gibbs and the novelist A. Hamilton Gibbs. He began as a magazine editor and wrote musical comedies and plays for the London stage, among them The Belle of Mayfair and The Blindness of Virtue, which he also turned into a novel. From the First World War he divided his time between England and the United States, writing fast-moving novels of fashionable life such as Scandal and The Rustle of Silk, several of which became silent films. He published an autobiography, Unwritten History, in 1924.
