Christian David Ginsburg (1831–1914) was a Polish-born British biblical scholar. Raised in a Jewish family in Warsaw, he converted to Christianity and settled in England, where he devoted his life to the Hebrew Bible and to Jewish literature. He wrote essays on the Essenes and on the Kabbalah, commentaries on Ecclesiastes and the Song of Songs, and above all a monumental study of the Massorah, the medieval tradition of the Hebrew text, followed by a critical edition of the Hebrew Bible. He was also a member of the committee that produced the Revised Version of the Old Testament.
