Charles M. Skinner

Charles Montgomery Skinner (1852–1907) was an American journalist and author, the brother of the actor Otis Skinner. He spent much of his career at the Brooklyn Daily Eagle as a writer and editor and published books on nature and folklore. Myths and Legends of Our Own Land (1896) gathered several hundred American legends by region, and he followed it with Myths and Legends Beyond Our Borders and Myths and Legends of Flowers, Trees, Fruits, and Plants. He also wrote nature essays, such as Nature in a City Yard, in which he observed the small wildlife of Brooklyn with humor and care.
