C. S. Evans

C. S. Evans was an English publisher and author of the early twentieth century, associated for many years with the London firm of William Heinemann. Besides his work in publishing, he wrote retellings of fairy tales for children, among them Cinderella and The Sleeping Beauty, which he expanded into short chapters with dialogue, humor and details of court life while keeping the familiar shape of the stories. They were issued as illustrated gift books and were written to be read aloud.
