C. Edmund Maurice

C. Edmund Maurice was an English historian, a son of the theologian and Christian Socialist Frederick Denison Maurice. He wrote on popular movements and the struggle for liberty, notably Lives of English Popular Leaders in the Middle Ages, on Stephen Langton, Wat Tyler and others, and The Revolutionary Movement of 1848-9 in Italy, Austria-Hungary, and Germany, published in 1887. His work shows strong sympathy for national and liberal causes and for figures such as Mazzini.
