John Francis Arundell, twelfth Baron Arundell of Wardour (1831–1906), was an English Catholic peer and writer. Head of one of the oldest recusant families in England, with its seat at Wardour Castle in Wiltshire, he served in the Papal Zouaves as a young man and took an active part in Catholic affairs and in the House of Lords. His principal book, Tradition, Principally with Reference to Mythology and the Law of Nations (1872), argued that the traditions of the nations, read rightly, support the historical account given in Genesis; he later published The Secret of Plato's Atlantis (1885), which identified Atlantis with ancient America.
