Bessie Pullen-Burry (1858–1937) was an English traveler and writer. Independent and unmarried, she journeyed widely at a time when few women traveled alone, and published accounts of what she saw: Jamaica As It Is, 1903, and Ethiopia in Exile: Jamaica Revisited (1905), both concerned with the condition of the island's black population; In a German Colony (1909), on four weeks in New Britain in German New Guinea; and From Halifax to Vancouver (1912), on Canada. She was a Fellow of the Royal Anthropological Institute and of the Royal Geographical Society, which admitted women only in 1913, and lectured on her travels.
