Arthur James Weise

Arthur James Weise was a nineteenth-century American historian best known for his histories of the city of Troy, New York. He also wrote The Discoveries of America to the Year 1525 (1884), a careful survey of the voyages and geographical ideas that led Europeans to the New World, drawing extensively on early narratives and maps. Little else about his life is widely recorded.
