Alexander Wynter Blyth (1844–1921) was an English chemist and public health officer. Trained in medicine and chemistry, he served for many years as medical officer of health and public analyst for the London district of St Marylebone, and was also called to the bar. His two major works became standard references for analysts and expert witnesses: Foods, Their Composition and Analysis, a guide to detecting adulteration, and Poisons, Their Effects and Detection, which combined the history of poisoning with methods of chemical detection. He also wrote a manual of public health and hygiene.
