Albert Frederick Pollard (1869–1948) was an English historian of the Tudor period. After working on the Dictionary of National Biography, he became professor of constitutional history at University College London, where he founded the Institute of Historical Research in 1921, and he also launched the Historical Association and edited its journal, History. His books include England under Protector Somerset, a life of Thomas Cranmer, Henry VIII and The Evolution of Parliament. Pollard shaped the study of the sixteenth century for a generation, and his Henry VIII long remained the standard biography of the king.
